Demystifying Maximalism

Ever wonder how to make random little trinkets and shit go together without looking like a garage sale moved in permanently??

Your eye will develop if it's not there yet, and you can start with these steps for intentional curation in your space, instead of just thrifted, albeit cute, clutter.

1. Repeat colors at least 2-3 times. If it's in painting, pick a pillow or pouf in that color too.

2. When mixing patterns, a big and small compliment each other well without being overwhelming. You can use spaced out stripes on a rug with a tight/condensed cheetah print accent somewhere else in the room.

3. Go for a gallery wall. Put more than just pictures for an entrancing statement—hang dried flowers, use plates, or door knockers and other weird ass hangable knickknacks.

4. Don't worry too much if shit matches. It's your home and you can have fun. I don't love a yard sale aesthetic, personally, but if that's your jam, then by all means, run with it, baby. (But I do love a straight up yard sale.)

5. LAYER lots of items - layer curtains, layer heigh variations, layer frames, layer pillows, layer patterns! Layering different textures of upholstery gives a more organic and balanced look to a room.

If you do these steps purposefully and artistically, it will leave you with the most interesting interiors out of everyone you know.

This painting pictured above, Lucky 6s, took me three years to finish. Literally. I started it a couple weeks after I got sober (California Sober, but we know this here) in August of '23.

A quick 30ish second video about the ups and downs of the painting process is on my Instagram if you're curious about the background story on this beauty, Lucky 6s.

It's a painting for the dreamer, the witch, the intuitive & the weird maximalist.

It's visual reminder that embracing the intuitive and feminine nature within ourselves will lead to more harmony and luck in our lives.

It's an encouragement to get creative, go with your gut, follow the fun, hold the vision and SHARE YOUR CRAFT, LOVER!!!!!
